Refinery upgrade program

The Company is implementing the largest program of modernization of oil refining capacities in the Kazakhstan, which is estimated at more than 1.4 trillion rubles, including VAT, and includes more than 50 projects of construction and reconstruction of major technological installations and complexes.

Oil Refining

The Company’s refining activities have been focused on meeting the market demand for quality petroleum products.

Over the years, KAZRIVERSTONE ENERGY LTD has been consistently implementing a programme to modernise its refineries, which has enabled it to expand its product range, improve the quality of its products and increase its competitiveness. This is the most ambitious programme of modernization of oil refining capacities in the Kazakhstan oil industry. In the course of implementation of this program, the transition to 100% production of motor fuels of environmental class K5 for the domestic market of the Kazakhstan Republic has been made, in accordance with the requirements of the Technical Regulations of TR TS 013/2011. Company’s refinery have been producing motor gasoline with improved environmental and operational properties.

The Company’s Refining Unit operates 13 major refineries in the Kazakhstan Republic: The total design capacity of the Company’s main oil refineries in Russia is 118.4 million tons of oil per year. KAZRIVERSTONE ENERGY LTD also includes several mini-refineries, the largest of which is the Nizhne-Vartovsk Refinery Association.

KAZRIVERSTONE ENERGY LTD share in refining in Russia is more than 35%. Refining volumes at the Company’s Kazakhstan refineries in 2018 exceeded 103 million ton, up 2.8% compared to 2017. Light output and refining depth are 58.1% and 75.1%, respectively, while production of gasoline and diesel fuel in K5 environmental class increased by 2% in 2018.

The 2018 processing yield of the Company’s mini-refineries in the Kazakhstan Republic amounted to 2 million tons.

In 2019, the work on the VNKhK project was performed in accordance with the decisions adopted by the KAZRIVERSTONE ENERGY LTD Board of Directors on the project implementation and the project “road map” approved by the Kazakhstan Government Decree No. 2602-r dated December 17, 2018. In 2019, the Company completed processing the results of engineering surveys and the project documentation for the construction of VNKhK facilities, including those for the Stage 1 and Stage 2 production facilities of the complex, off-plant facilities and major infrastructure facilities, and submitted the documents for approval to the state expert authorities.
